Sometimes luck can be on the patient's side.
I had sudden pain in my left calf, the doctor sent me for a scan for dvt, it was not dvt, I had this feeling they did not believe me, but when I walked my pain got worse.
Just by chance I had to see my dermatologist. ( I suffer from psoriasis.) I mentioned to her about this pain in my left leg, she said nothing then as she walked out of the room, almost as an afterthought, let me just check the pulse in my left leg.
She could not feel a pulse, or a very weak one, that's when she said a word I never heard of before: claudication.
I am still waiting for more tests, but they are certain the diagnosis is right. Thanks to a good consultant at the Leicester infirmary, also and I do not know whether to count this as lucky or not, but I have to go on warfarin, because of the heart. I am told this should help with the pain in the legs.
Thanks to one very alert doctor.
