"outpatient appointments"

About: The Maidstone Hospital

The new appointment system for outpatients is awful, My Daughter has regular appointments at this Hospital, she has a job working at another Hospital treating cancer patients and is on a rota. When an appointment came through for her to attend K & S outpatients, it was less than 2 weeks notice. She asked for another appointment as no cover could be arranged for her that day and again it was just 2 weeks away. She was told if she didn't keep that appointment she would lose her place altogether and have to go back to her G.P. and be referred all over again. The old system of being able to make the next appointment after each consultation was a lot better, at least let it be more than 2 weeks in advance.

Thank you for your comments and I apologise for the delay in replying. In order to reduce cancellations to clinics due to doctors on call commitments and annual leave, the appointment system has been changed. Appointments are not made more than six weeks in advance when doctor's leave is known and it is hoped that this will reduce unnecessary cancellations. If we can help further, please do not hesitate to contact the PALS office on 01622 224960/01892 632953. With kind regards, the PALS team.
