My daughter is a regular visitor to RMCH and recently was admitted for a procedure on the day ward. Overall I have absolutely no complaints about her treatment, however, the lack of infection prevention is very worrying. Quite a few different nurses and student nurses did observations on my daughter and I did not see any one of them wash their hands or use alcohol gel prior to touching my daughter. Watching them go from patient to patient with no hand hygiene is extremely worrying. Only one Dr that examined her washed their hands prior. I myself have previously suffered with a hospital acquired infection, and my daughter is immunosuppressed because of drugs to treat her condition. If she happens to stay in again and I see it re occurring I will bring it to the managers attention.
