"The staff are to be commended for their care, professionalism and sense of humor"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Rheumatology (wards 15/28 & 20/21)

(as a relative),

My aunt was cared for by the staff of ward 28 for over two months. Every member of staff: cleaners, nurses, support staff, medical staff and the nurses and OTs were all incredibly supportive of Anne, friendly and welcoming to her family.

They always made time to answer any questions and if they did not know the answer would find someone who did. This is a busy, heavy ward at times. Even when short staff we witnessed them being attentive and caring to those who were most in need. The staff are to be commended for their care, professionalism and sense of humor

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. It is my job to give our patients and carers the opportunity to give us feedback, and to make sure that this is passed to the right people to help us improve the services we provide.

Dear Findlay,

I have passed your comments on to the Manager of this Service who will make sure that all of the staff on Ward 28 get to hear your positive feedback.

Your post highlights a very similar point to another recent story shared on Patient Opinion, demonstrating that even on very busy wards, communication with patients and their families is of the utmost importance in making patients feel looked after and cared for. I am very glad that this was the experience for you and your Aunt, and I hope that she is doing well.

Best Wishes,

Lorna
