"Great staff and marvellous hospital"

I was admitted to Treliske Hospital Trauma unit 2 on E Bay on 11th Aug 2014,While walking on the rocks between Charlestown and the next beach I slipped on a large rock.my leg doubled back under me and I severed the main Quad Tendon. I was brought into the hospital by air ambulance unable to stand up or walk. Treliske were marvellous. I was operated on next day 12th Aug and fitted with a cricket pad splint for 6 weeks. the staff, the doctors the nurses everybody were so helpful. I was there for 10 days. In which time I graduated from a walking frame to crutches. the physio lady was so encouraging. My condition improved at such a reasonable rate that although I was 275 miles away from Home an ambulance was organized, because my local hospitals said that as I was on crutches I did not need to be in hospital. And I was whizzed back all the way back up to Bucks.in about four and a half hours. The scar from the operation has almost completely disappeared. My leg is now bending up to 130 degrees I can drive my car and walk 3 to 4 miles. the hardest thing is coming down stairs, still a bit painful.. I was initially a bit emotional at times when I realized what I was potentially looking at. Not being able to walk or drive, separated from my beloved wife for long periods of time. I felt the general hospital atmosphere was very good,, you know the moral. The year before all this I had cancer of the prostate and was given an Epidural. It was very scary. seemed to take a very long time I was really frightened of having an epidural again for the op' at Truro to re-attach the tendon. but the anaethatist was so helpful and gave me different type of general anathetic.I was so grateful that he took the time to hear me and help out as he did. This was a really big deal for me I wont forget his compassion towards me. the surgeon did a lovely job on my leg, I think Treliske you are the tops, And I will never forget my stay in your Trauma Unit 2.
