"very unhappy"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

I visited north Tyneside general hospital/ accident and emergency. I had to visit this hospital as it my local hospital. I went to A+E on Sunday 1st Feb 2015 regarding my accident that took place on Saturday 31st. When I arrived I was quite satisfied but when I was going treatment for damage done to my ankle I was not highly satisfied because the way the staff treat me. I was unable to put any pressure on my foot and I was sent home and told to carry on as normal and walk. On Monday 2nd I had rang my GP and was told to come along to the surgery when I arrived my GP told me that I should not be walking on my foot as it would be causing me more damage and I should of been giving something to walk with when I visited A+E. When I was being treated I had told the people in the A+E department that I have done something similar before and that I have joint problems. I am very unhappy about my visit to this hospital and it is not the first time I have been treated like this.

Dear Sir /Madam, I am sorry to hear about your accident and the fact that you feel let down by the assessmnet and advice you received in emergency care about your damaged ankle. I can appreciate how frustrating it is when the information and guidance you receive is not consistent. We want you to feel confident when choosing to be care for in your local hospital and so it is very disappointing to hear that you have also felt unhappy in the past. I am sorry. I will be forwarding this note together with my response to the team involved but while your review remains anonymous I have very little information to go on in order to give you a meaningful reply. If you would like to send some more details to me I'd be grateful - my email is annie.laverty@nhct.nhs.uk Many thanks for taking the time to share your concerns with us, Annie
