"Suspected ruptured tendon"

About: Northern General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I was referred by the GP to the Northern General Hospital as she suspected a ruptured tendon. I was seen the next day by a consultant in the Fracture Clinic. I was admitted the next day and had an operation to re-attach the tendon. All the staff, especially the theatre staff were excellent. My only concern was that I suffered the injury in the middle of June and saw the physiotherapist the next day who referred me by letter to the fracture clinic and was waiting over a month for the referral to come through. The surgeon said that with such an injury it should have been seen to immediately. Apart from this my treatment was superb.
