"can the hospital help me with my shower? It helps my skin condition"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Dermatology Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I had a cyst removed from my eye three years ago at the RD&E. I could see it from the corner of my eye which was really annoying so was really pleased to have it removed. The treatment was very quick, I was in and out in no time, and they did a really good job.

I’m now waiting to have a skin condition treated through the dermatology clinic for a very itchy condition my doctors cannot get to the bottom of. Several different creams have been tried but the most effective has been a shower gel that eases the symptoms. Unfortunately my shower had broken and I cannot get the Devon and Cornwall housing people to understand why I need them to come and fix my shower, if it wasn't for the skin condition I could wait. I don’t think they believe I have a condition.

I feel so aggravated by the housing people’s lack of action, the shower broke before Christmas, and I was wondering if the hospital could write to them to convince them I need this urgently.

Dear Poster427

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. I would like to thank you very much for the kind comments you make regarding the treatment you received at the Eye Unit.

I am sorry to hear of the difficulties you are experiencing in getting your shower repaired, and note that you find your shower helpful in relieving your skin condition. I see that you have requested that the hospital writes a letter of support to try and expedite the repair to your shower. I can confirm that, if you contact the Trust's Dermatology Department on 01392 405510 and ask to speak with your Consultant's secretary, they will try to assist you.
