My father was admitted to SMH with a chest infection & dehydration. He was in A&E for over 24hours in a cubicle (more admissions during the evening were waiting in corridors). My father has advanced Alzheimer's & confusion for him set in very quickly. The care & support we received as a family was overwhelming. He was regularly monitored & cared for. We were kept fully updated on his medical condition. He was unable to be admitted to a ward due to the sheer volume of emergency's.
We are so very grateful to all the staff in A&E & in the Assessment & Observation Ward. They all showed kindness, compassion & professionalism under extremely trying pressures.
A big thank you from our family & of course our Dad.
