"A&E service"

About: Manor Hospital

When I had severe back pain and had to go to hospital because I couldn't get about, ambulance staff were brilliant with me I couldn't ask for more caring people and they could sympathise with my problem too. The ambulance staff took me to to the hospital with me using gas and air as I was in a lot of pain and couldn't even get in and out the ambulance without it either. I got to A&E the staff asked can she walk they replied barely and that's with gas and air. They sent me through to badger cling which is a walk in centre and had to take the gas and air off me and leave me there in agony and in tears for 3hrs in a wheelchair I finally got called through. They asked if I could walk I replied no I'm in agony I can't walk and the wheelchair couldn't get into the room so the doctor said he has to send me back to A&E I was very distressed and very upset and crying because I sat there in pain for 3 hrs and now I have to go back to the A&E and wait all over again. I was taken back to A&E a nurse Said I would have to wait again to be seen if it's painkillers you want we can give you them and you can go or you will have to wait again and it's a 3hr waiting time her attitude towards me was awful the way the nurse spoke to me.I said I need to see someone about why my pain has gotten so bad I was worried about whether something was wrong to make the pain so bad and I'm in a lot of pain. She had a go at me and said what painkillers are you on I told her and said they don't take this pain away. She said well what painkillers do you want and I will get you them tell me what you want tell me what you want she kept asking I said something to take my pain away I don't know just something to stop me being in pain. She came back and said here take these and I took them. After a few hours I was dumped in a cubicle and just left there no one came to take obs or tell me anything then an hour later a junior doctor saw me he treated me as a patient and asked me what's wrong and examined me he said I will send you home with the tramadol I will just check with my boss. I didn't have an X-ray or anything but they did a neurological test he talked to a senior doctor who came and said its just mechanical we can't send you home with tramadol any more due to it being a cd drug now so you will have to see your GP Monday I said I will be back to square one when these painkillers wear off is there anything else I can have he said you will just have to deal with the pain with what you have at home until Monday we don't have the beds to admit you if you need to you will have to go to the walk in clinic if your pain gets worse again. I basically told that I have to just suck it up and just deal with it until Monday when I may be able to get a GP appt. I ended up in the same position when the pain killers worn off I phoned 111 a out of hours doctor had to be called out and he gave me a prescription for pain killers a friend got them for me.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to post a comment. We're sorry to read about your wait for treatment and are also sorry to learn that you were disappointed with the attitude of a staff member, this is not how we expect patients to feel. If you could please give us a call at your earliest convenience we would like to discuss the care that you have received and can arrange for you to speak to a clinician regarding your care.
