The Health Visitor makes monthly visits to my home to see me and my premature son, born October 2014, and has even paid me a visit whilst he was in the Neonatal Unit at HRI.

The problem is that she never told me at any point she was a student health visitor. She did, however, inform me that she has had no dealings with premature babies, thus reducing my confidence in her dramatically.

After finding out that she only graduated this year (2015) I am appalled. This health visitor, having had no experience with premature babies is allowed to make solo home visits.

Dear cha713y2007,

I am really sorry to hear about your your recent experience with the Health Visiting service which has led to a subsequent lack of confidence.

As a parent with a premature baby I agree that you should have had an experienced practitioner with the student possibly shadowing her to gain experience.

I would like to investigate this further but require more information. I would really appreciate a discussion with you or an email to help me ascertain who the student was and who was her Practice Teacher.

Similarly I would liike to ensure that you have an experienced practitioner moving forward
