"Pretty Poor Service"

About: The Great Western Hospital

I was originally admitted for right foot surgery in November 2006 and could not fault the Hospital in any way. However, this went pear shaped the following year in 2007 and thereafter when I was to have surgery on my left foot. There were no problems with the nursing/medical team but very much with the admissions/bed bureau staff who a) ignored or lost simple information which had actually been noted on the Hospital computer system and, b) never answered the telephone or returned telephone calls. Consequently, this surgery remains outstanding. In July 2014, I saw a Consultant who arranged for a hand surgery procedure. Again, I have no complaints about the medical team but it seems the admissions team/booking centre team have either lost the paper work left on the day in the Cherwell Unit or it has been filed away and forgotten. During the course of the foot surgery and current hand surgery scenarios I have had to complain to PALS about the treatment I have received from the Clerical and Administrative side of these procedures. Firstly, when can I expect to be treated for the the more recent problem or, will it like the foot surgery, become another "never get done job" and secondly, how often does one have to complain to PALS in order to eventually be treated at this Hospital? I am now really very minded to proceed to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman. Finally, I have starred your same sex accommodation as one star as I really don't know.
