"My husband's operation"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham / General surgery

(as a relative),

My husband went in as a inpatient at the QE hospital in Birmingham in January 2015 and the whole experience both as a patient and a relatives pint of view about the care he received and the attention that I was given as a next of kin does leave a lot to be desired.

However the one to one care in ITU was good.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. We welcome all feedback and would like to assure you that all comments are taken seriously and acted upon as part of our ongoing commitment to improving patient experience.

We are pleased that you found the one to one care in our Critical Care Unit to be good. We are very sorry however that other parts of your husband’s stay in our hospital were not so positive. This is certainly not the type of experience we aim to provide. I have forwarded your comments to the senior staff responsible for General Surgery; they are keen to investigate what happened and feedback to you directly. To help with this please could you make contact with us via the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at your earliest convenience?

PALS can be contacted by phone 0121 371 3280, by email PALS@uhb.nhs.uk, via the hospital website http://www.uhb.nhs.uk/pals-form.htm or in person by dropping in between 9am – 5pm (Mon-Fri) to the PALS office located near the Information Desk in the main entrance of the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
