Went here for an op and half an hour before surgery I was advised that I could not have a general anesthetic as I was overweight. I had brought this up at my original consultation & at my pre op and was assured it would not be a problem. I was never weighed or my BMI checked. I had to have the op under sedation despite the fact that at the original consultation I was told it was 'too uncomfortable a procedure' to have under sedation. The op had to be stopped less than half way through due to the pain as was in but I was told 'it should work anyway' 6 weeks later I am back to the same problem I had. I was told I could not have a general due to my weight as if there was a problem there was no resus equipment. So why was my op not cancelled? Why does this hospital offer bariatric surgery if overweight people can't have anesthetic? On a plus point the all of the staff could not have been more caring or helpful.
"Staff superb. Treatment appalling"
