"Incorrect advice for HyCoSy"

About: Warwick Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

The best time to perform a HyCoSy is just after your period has finished, approximately day 7 to day 10 of a regular 28-day (monthly) menstrual cycle (the first day of your period is counted as day 1).

Unfortunately, this does not fit in with my cycle as my periods are longer than 10 days and a member of staff wrongly told me the scan could not be performed during a period. Which delayed me having the scan and being unnecessarily being prescribed the contraception pill to limit my periods to 5 days so that I could have the scan. I suffered from several side effects from taking the pill.

I eventually managed to speak with a lovely, well informed member of staff who told me there was no issues with the test being performed during a period! ! This caused me and my husband a lot of upset! When the hycosy was eventually booked I received a call to say the scan had been cancelled as the Dr performing it had gone home sick. Where now thinking of going private we're maybe we will be treated by more competent staff.
