"Royal Bolton - Ward M1 excellent, D1 awful"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

(as the patient),

The best thing about my treatment for ovarian cancer was coming home but on Ward M1 it was superb, I was treated like a queen, it was excellent. On D1 I was treated more like an outcast with no drink, no food from tea time until the next day, it was dreadful. I was angry that no-one asked me if I wanted anything, it was awful.

I would like to thank all the staff on M1, they were fantastic and I have never been in hospital before and they put me completely at ease, they are wonderful people, even student nurses.

Recently I have been in the Royal Bolton, Hope Hospital, Salford Hospital and the Christie Cancer Hospital, Manchester.

Royal Bolton Ward M1 is excellent in all areas, but the Royal Bolton Ward D1 is a dreadful experience.

Hope Salford Ward Eric Rawlinson has excellent care, facilities, toilets but the day rooms are not good.

The Christie Ward 5 and Manchester out patients is excellent through and through.

Thank you for your comments about M1, but we are very sorry about the poor experience you had while cared for on D1, our Emergency Assessment Unit. We have brought the issues you raised to the attention of the matron.
