"Referred by GP"

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

I was referred by my GP and advised to collect letter and go straight to A&E for review for a worrying condition. Upon arrival at 5pm in Friday evening I was seen in triage, having given my GP letter, had an intravenous cannula sited and bloods taken, then sent to the waiting room to await Dr. two and half hours later was called my Dr and was reviewed. The Dr treated me like I was a time waster, and at the end of her examination advised me if my symptoms persist for another two weeks I should go back to my GP for a referral for an MRI scan as I could possibly have a tumour! And left the room. I obviously spontaneously combusted at this point and my mum went to find the dr as she was not happy with what she had said. The dr came back, and upon both my mum and myself expressing our horror at what she had said, and explaining that I had been told to attend A&E by my GP and that we had now been there for 4 hrs, she proceeded to apologise for what she had said and also for the fact that she did not know I had been referred by my GP and should probably have been seen by the medical team initially! She said she would get the medical registrar to come and see me or her consultant, after 45 minutes of waiting for 'someone' to come back, I decided to leave! I have never been treated with such a lack of humanity, courtesy and compassion in my life and will not ever attend Frimley Park Hospital A&E department ever again
