"Long waiting time for routine appointment"

About: Sussex Eye Hospital

I have attended the Eye Hospital for many years and generally outpatient waiting times have been quite acceptable. However,my latest appointment on 14/01/2015 was not good in that respect. My wife and I arrived early and then waited 90 minutes beyond my booked time for a field test, watching many other patients with later appointments being called in. The team member doing this test was on his own and apart from doing the test had to escort elderly, infirm and visually impaired patients to their next waiting area.My own next appointment was therefore late and one of the routine tests was not carried out. At least the consultant was prepared to wait for me, unlike at least one team member who had apparently gone home before seeing one of my fellow patients. I have no issues with the quality of the care I receive but am concerned that the apparent lack of staff might begin to affect both morale and job satisfaction which could have a detrimental effect on the overall quality of care which has previously been very good.
