"Helpful Counselling"

About: Inclusion Matters Sefton

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

It was helpful because it helped me to organise my thoughts/worries about my situation. It was hlepful to have my concerns taken seriously by a good listener who was objective.

I would have liked to have been directed more by the counsellor asking questions. this wouldn't kept me more on track and perhaps made better use of the sessions.

Dear 'RedNail',

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback with us.

I'm pleased to hear that you found your counselling sessions helpful and that you were able to organise your thoughts and worries with someone who took your thoughts seriously.

Person-centred counselling is what's termed a 'non-directive' talking therapy so it is normal practise for your counsellor not to ask you questions or direct you. If you would prefer a more directive therapy in the future you may prefer something like cognitive behavioural therapy.

I wish you all the best for the future,

Lizzie
