(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I would like to have more time to spend talking to my Consultant. I attended Ward Round yesterday and was given 10 minutes to speak which I found a bit daunting. I would usually have more time to talk and was only told about this as I went into the room. I didn't have time to prepare what I wanted to say.

My Consultant does a clinic outside of Ward Round which is every six weeks. I would like to suggest that she does this more frequently.

I have discussed this issue with your Consultant.

A decision was made to limit the amount of discussion time to ensure that ward rounds are structured in a way that is punctual to the time allotted and allows everyone equal time to discuss thier issues and progress. Apologies that you were not made aware of this beforehand.

We are currently considering whether we can allot a second ward round slot due to the ward now comming to full capacity scince opening. Your Consultant intends to have clinics every four weeks but will have to consider how this fits with the ward routine.

In the meantime If you need support Advocacy can help to ensure that you are prepared prior to these sessions; perhaps write down a few points to discuss before you attend and think about what you would like to achieve.
