"life changing operation"

About: St Michael's Hospital (Hayle)

With having to make to the desicion whether to have a mastectomy and reconstruction or not was a no brainer for me. When the fear of finding a lump overtakes your life to the point where your feeling and checking for lumps in your sleep, at work, shopping, at dinner, when out with family and friends etc basically 24/7. Surgery was the only answer for me. After having constant consultations about the surgey before and after, the pro's and con's and very informative consultations with my fantastic surgeons it just clarified what i wanted and needed. The morning of my surgery at St Micheal's I felt very calm and prepared for surgery due to the input the surgeons had given me prior to this day. Once on my ward the staff were brilliant (all the staff). The surgeon came to see and sat and spoke to me and did final measurements etc and spent what ever time was needed to make sure i was prepared for this huge life changing and very brave surgery. After my surgery and back on the ward the nurses and healthcare workers could'nt do enough to make sure i was comfy and had everything i needed to recover. My life changed that day....for the better. I have never looked back and have got my life back. I'm still in close contact with my surgoens on a check up basis and to see how my surgery and I are progressing, and to discuss the next stages of my journey. All I can say is thank you ...you guys rock.
