"Great service from Good Hope Hospital"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Accident & emergency Good Hope Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a parent/guardian),

Good Hope gets a lot of bad press locally but I would like to praise the service we had last Sunday.

While playing football on Sunday my son (15 years old) managed to break his wrist. We arrived by car at A&E about 3pm, by half 3 the children's A&E team had stabilised a badly broken wrist in a plaster cast, had it X rayed, reviewed the x Rays & informed us what was needed.

The injury required surgery asap to pin the bones back into position, we did have to wait around 6 hours before there was a slot in the operating theatre but during this time we were transferred to the ward, provided with a portable DVD player so we could watch a film to keep my son's mind off the impending operation.

All the staff both in A&E & on the ward were very helpful friendly & kept us fully informed. They were all a credit to their profession & to the hospital.

Please pass this onto the team with our heartfelt thanks.

Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. I'll certainly pass this on to the team.

As you will no doubt be aware our emergency department, like many others, comes under a lot of pressure in the winter. This sort of positive feedback really helps boost our teams at times like this.

All the very best to your son & I hope he's soon back on the pitch!

Regards

Richard
