The days after my collapse, I was obviously immobile and I lost weight and some of my bodily functions. But after 8 weeks I was transferred to Kendal and what a difference. Not being as big as Barrow as you had more individual care and knew your nurses. The food was five star here as it was served on the ward and not in travel cupboards and the sandwiches were much better. For someone who is ill to be greeted by a label that says “cheese and onion in a wedge” and when exploring further finds a strip of onion to measure in millimetres and cheese like thin cardboard. It’s not very appetising for someone at the lowest ebb. The care in both hospitals was good but Kendal gets my vote.
"Five star hospital!"
