"Turned away from Lewisham Walk In Centre"

About: University Hospital Lewisham

(as the patient),

I have a burst abscess which is under my arm pit. Now the hole is quiet big and deep. it is leaking a lot of fluid at the moment. Which means that it needs a change of dressing daily. I made an appointment to visit my GP on Tuesday, but since the abscess burst last week Wednesday I had to go walk in centre in New Cross. I live in Downham Grove Park. Lewisham hospital also has a walk in centre, where I have been going to in order for the dressing to be changed.

Today I finished work at 6pm. Me and a work friend went to Lewisham hospital so I could have the dressing changed. When I got to the reception at ambulance and emergency, a guy at reception then told me that I can not have my dressing changed as the waiting is very long. Now I got told on Friday by the Lewisham walk in clinic that even if they are busy they will change the dressing for me. Now today this guy at the reception desk in Lewisham hospital tells me that they are trying not to change dressings any more. He offered me to go all the way down to New Cross walk in centre, which is well out of my area.

The dressing under my arm pit is now dirty. The wound is continuously leaking. Which now means, due to the fact it wasn’t changed today, infection will settle in the wound. As the dressing that I have had on since Sunday is now dirty.

The abscess hole is very deep and quiet big. I am very, very, very upset and disgusted with the way how I was treated at Lewisham hospital. They have been changing my dressing all over the weekend, plus Friday evening. Now the guy at the reception desk at Lewisham hospital is telling me they’re not changing dressings any more? So my arm will end up with infection now.

Well I am making a complaint towards that hospital. I should of got better care from the hospital today. I have been working for ten years. I pay my insurance and tax. So I should be entitled to better care from the nhs. I was born in the uk. I was born at lewisham hospital.

I want further action.
