Although It would have been nice to have a shorter time from referral to consultation, but when the state of my cataract was assessed, l was then offered a cancellation, if one arose, which it did, within a week. The clinical experience was completely positive. The procedure sounded horrendous to me, but it turned out to be devoid of any pain or discomfort. The moment I sat up, my sight was noticeably better, even with a transparent plastic eye patch which was to stay on the first night. The next morning was incredible. I looked out of the window and thought that the window cleaner must have just been! As I looked around the house, almost everything, except soft fabrics obviously, looked crystal clear, shiny and polished. My left eye also needs doing and I would not want to go anywhere else for it. This team are as good as I could possibly hope for. This sort of very good news story never seems to crop up in news about the DGH. Thank you to all concerned, including all the clinical team on the day. Mark Foster
