"Cranford ward."

About: Kettering General Hospital

Yesterday my partner and my five year old daughter visited my father on the Cranford ward as they have done for the last twelve days. On arrival on the ward my partner was in no uncertain terms told to leave the ward there and then as my daughter was under twelve . We new the policy and had asked on are first visit and where told as it is a stroke rehab ward it would be ok. My daughter has sat with her granddad every day and has caused no problems or caused any disruption. Yesterday told you have five minutes then out in front of other staff and public. I now have a very distressed partner and a five year old who crys that she can't and won't see her grandad . And a father who day is made to see his grand daughter in keeps him going. Thoughts please.

Thank you for your comments. I would like to apologise that you were given the wrong information regarding under 12’s visiting Cranford ward. We advise no visitors under 12 due to the increase risk of infection to our vulnerable patients and any children visiting the ward. There may be exceptional circumstances were it is agreed by the nurse in charge to visit the ward for a short period. I am sorry for the distress this has caused you and your family. I will ensure that my team are aware of the policy to prevent this from happening again. Alice Chalmers Ward Sister Cranford Unit
