"Initial admittance & follow up care appointment"

About: Broomfield Hospital

My son was referred to this hospital in May 2014 complaining of headaches & was kept in overnight for observation with an MRI scan being offered that same evening. The staff were extremely attentive & kept us informed of all procedures that were taking place. In less than 24hrs we were informed that my son was suffering from a brain cavernoma & it was imperative that it was removed asap. The consultants who were involved were extremely professional & were there to answer any questions that we had. Although we were discharged (our case had to be referred to GOSH) we were told that we had open access to the ward at any time in case of further concerns which gave us peace of mind. A few days later the initial consultant telephoned us at home to inform us that our case would be taken over by another consultant who specialised in this field which made us feel that our case was on a personal level. After the operation at GOSH we had a follow up appt at Broomfield with a Consultant who was extremely pleasant & had a very caring manner. He did not rush our appt & answered all questions that we put forward. He also put my son at ease & even made him laugh! This was lovely to see after all the trauma that we had been through. He also said that we could contact him at any time should we feel the need. I can only express that the treatment and personal commitment by staff at this hospital was second to none & would like to let others know that this hospital deserves the recognition that it gets.
