From a personal point of view I dont think enough is done for people suffering with mental health problems. Having mental health problems can be very confusing and even embarrasing. So to actually be able to talk about it with somene who is easily approachable would help. As they say 'the first steps to conquering mental health issues is having the confidence to admit and discuss you have a problem'

Thank you for your constructive comments. All patients currently identified with a mental health issue are assessed within the first week and allocated a named nurse to work with.

However, the mental health team is currenlty undergoing a period of development to include the introduction of support groups aimed at providing peer support led by a mental health professional.

The new matron for mental health commenced on 5th May 2015. Access to mental health services is priority work in the first months of employment and you will certainly see an improvement in access times.
