You need a peer led service user forum, a level playing field between service users and staff where users can be listenened to and for solutions to be made. All departments need to get involved and have drop in workshops. The substance misuse service at HMP Nottingham is the worst I've ever been a service user with.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your comments and feedback. There are plans to re-instate the patient forum groups for physical health, mental health services and substance misuse services now that we have the facilities to co-ordinate this. I would recommend you attend the Substance Misuse Service forum to suggest improvements that can be made within the service and your Recovery Practitioner can assist you in doing so.

There are future plans to introduce the recovery champions back into the Substance Misuse Services to support the peer intervention.

Hello,

I am updating this comment to inform you that the change originally planned to re-introduce Substance Misuse patient forums has happened. The first forum took place in July and was a very positive experience for both patients and staff. We have take on board suggestions that were made and will continue to encourage these forums to happen monthly within the Substance Misuse team.

We also have 4 patients who will be going through the Recovery Champions training in order to support other patients and signpost into services.
