On 14th March 2014, I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer by DVH Urology Dept, after undergoing extensive, speedy and sensitive testing. I thank DVH / Urology for the way in which this period of testing and diagnosis was carried out, with compassion and consideration of the effect the news would have on my wife and myself. There is one person in particular who stands out for our thanks and praise....the Uro-oncology Specialist Nurse, who took my wife and myself to one side after the diagnosis to explain in detail the MDT's treatment plan, but the way in which she handled this very delicate period with her unique compassion and understanding that receives our biggest thanks.....thank you. My successful Radiotherapy Treatment was carried out by Maidstone Oncology Centre, and on New Years Eve was further diagnosed as being in a period of "remission" and handed back for future reviews to the specialist nurse and the DVH Urology department. It has been so reassuring to know that she and her unique ways to always have the "right words" at difficult times, was there.....every hospital and department should have someone like this.
"A heart felt thank you"
