Bearing in mind my wife is a nurse at WGH and generally my opinion of the management of the NHS is lower than a snakes belly. But the front line staff are a completely different team of professional, dedicated and caring group of people. Saturday 2am I get the call my son needs to go to A&E now as High Wycombe no longer has an A&E (another management decision) I set off for SMH 2:45. Reception friendly and helpful, triage nurse seen all within 15 minutes. Xray had to wait about an hour, doctor reviewed xray had to wait an hour due to drunks. Plaster cast on broken foot and home to bed 6-45am. The whole team had a sense of humour despite dealing with time wasters, drunks along with the genuine patients. Well done my faith restored. Appointment made for out patients 3 days later. This time seen by 3 doctors as the injury was a little tricky/unusual, cat scans, support boot and home within 3 hours. Fantastic NHS. I wish everyone got this service. Thank you see you in 2 weeks for the follow up appointment.
