My sixteen year old daughter had her appointment yesterday for the removal of roots from a double tooth. After waiting a while we were informed that someone had cancelled her appointment the day before at 2.p.m. I stated that we would hardly be attending today if we had cancelled and asked what was going on. There was some confusion as to whether the surgery would actually go ahead and later informed that it would. Apparanty somebody with a similar surname had cancelled and I can only presume that the booking centre staff had not checked thoroughly the Nhs number and hospital number even though the surname was spelt differently, thus cancelling the wrong patient. Fortunately for my daughter who was extremely anxious anyway could have the procedure. I would like to know who was responsible and hope that this would not happen again. The procedure itself went well which I thank the hospital for but I had to insist that I stay with my daughter as she suffers from extreme anxiety. Your system I feel is wrong that you don't normally allow this. There is more room than the staff say there is to accommodate a partner or parent and feel strongly that this should be acknowledged.
"Not impressed"
