"Wonderful staff at early pregnancy assessment clinic"

In march and July 2013 I had experienced two miscarriages through clomid through the ACU, the staff there were very sympathetic and showed a genuine care for their patients.

In June 2014 I found out I had a spontaneous pregnancy and things seemed to be going well. However at 11. 5 weeks I had started to bleed. I called NHS 24 who were very fast to speak to me, I also called my midwife at my GP's surgery and she advised me to call epac.

Around 2 hours later Yvonne from epac called me back and listened to my worries and invited me in for a scan an hour later. I arrived at epac and the scan was done and I had had a missed miscarriage. Yvonne was very sympathetic and we talked at length of my options. I went home and was to wait for a natural miscarriage.

Around a week later I started to bleed. I was bleeding clots the size of a fist and the blood was just pouring. I called epac and they said it sounded like if was managing but to be honest I knew something wasn't right. After I came of the phone I collapsed and my partner called epac and they told him to call 999 straight away. The ambulance arrived and assessed the blood (which had been blocked at this time I learned) and they wanted me to stay at home but I was persistent to go to epac.

Once I arrived there Yvonne helped me to the toilet and seen the full scale of the bleeding and said she would like me to stay overnight to be observed. She cleaned me up and helped me back to the bed and got me fresh pads and water.

I was taken through to another room where I was met with Leanne, she was very lovely and inserted an iv line into my hand. A short while later I started passing out and the team of doctors, midwives and nurses acted in a very professional manner and were absolutely brilliant. I was taken to theatre for an emergency ERPC and then taken to ward 36. They saved my life, I am so grateful to everyone.

On ward 36 I was given iron and antibiotics through the iv line. It later turned out I needed a blood transfusion. The staff at ward 36 were so hard working and cared 100% for all their patients. I particularly remember a nurse named Liz who always put a smile on my face.

Then in September 2014 I found out I was pregnant again, I had started to bleed however and I called and spoke to Leanne, she asked me to go in for a HCG blood test and a scan to make sure. The conclusion that day was that I had miscarried again, Leanne called to give me the results and sent me a test to do a week later. The test was positive so I called back and spoke to a midwife named Morag. She asked me to go in for another blood test which showed my HCG had risen. I attended a few times per week for a few weeks and it was concluded that I had an ectopic pregnancy. They discussed absolutely everything with me and made me feel at ease. I was treated with methotrexate and had to attend a few more times for blood tests to make sure my levels went down.

My experience with miscarriage has been hard but they all made me feel safe and at ease. The staff at ward 36, epac and the doctors/surgeons are amazing! Not only did they save my life but they are caring and sympathetic and nothing is too much bother for them. Leanne, Morag and Yvonne from epac are amazing and brilliant. Dr nichol performed my surgery and was very caring and it went with no complications. Liz and Laura from ward36 were amazing. Unfortunately I didn't get everyone's names, but I can't fault any of the staff I met while attending.
