My aunt has now had 2 long admissions on this ward. it is medicine for the elderly, the ward is very busy and over months I have seen just how stressful it can be, many patients are confused and very frail, and require lots of hand on care,
The staff on this ward care for each person tirelessly they still offer a smile and reassurance, buzzers constantly ring and they attend to the inpatients as efficiently as they possibly can. through no fault of their own patients can indeed be very angry and agitated hitting out and nursing staff, but the staff on this ward still deal with everything so well. they care and take time to listen and to explain as best they can to people who are suffering dementia and other problems, and still manage a smile and fabulous care. working 12 hours in such a busy place I have heard them sing to patients, smile, hold their hands always doing their very best for them. the auxiliary staff are so helpful, the nurses always willing to take time to say what's happening with my aunt and how she has been, some days she can be very difficult with them! The Sister on the wards regularly comes round talking to relatives and patients, the staff give 100%.
My aunt remains an inpatient for the time being but it makes such a difference to know that, she is being cared for so well
Thank you so much to all staff on ward 57.
