"wound infection- still infected after 5 weeks."

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

not impressed by way my leg wound was handled on 7th December by A and E. Wound very deep, X-ray dept excellent with attention to detail, not so with wound dressing, which I, and my sister who accompanied me, felt was hurried. Wound not cleansed, left with open wound while nurse popped in and out. Difficulty in stitching, zigzag wound. Needles useless according to nurse. Half stitched and half taped. No proper dressings available, apparently. Unsurprisingly infection set in involving daily dressing and attendance at Community Wound Dressing service at Rosebank in Lancaster, at Morecambe Queen Vic and a return to A and E as in much pain for four weeks. Received two lots of antibiotics and still some infection in wound which I feel could have been avoided had proper care been taken in the first place. Am told I would have received better care had I called an ambulance and seen by a doctor, Have photos to show different stages of wound, now black after five weeks probably have to be opened and cleaned out properly. Sorry to have to,write this but it is the truth. Have great respect for NHS. served me well in the past.
