I suffer from a eating disorder and my crisis treatment is attend A&E if GP or community eating disorders centre closed. I was suffering severe pins n needles in my hands and feet and was confused and know this is a warning sign for dangerous levels of potassium.
I was seen quickly by triage and taken through reasonably quick to see the doctor. As soon as he picked my notes up an saw the word restrictive anorexic he told me out right that A&E was a service for the sick not people who choose to make themselves ill by opting not to eat.
Discharged in same state as arrived with no bloods taken. Not first time this has happened either so why this is my crisis plan is an utter waste of time. Totally disgusting and it's an illness, doctors need more training and educating with treating vulnerable and very sick patients not think that this is s life style we choose to make!
