I have been Waiting on orthopaedic surgery list for over 4 months now. I need to have op on my right shoulder and was told upto 3 months. It's now over 4 and still no word. I had the same op done last year for my other shoulder and had no problems waited a week. I know there is a waiting list but all I get when I ring is that my consultant list is long and they no no date for me. At the beginning of Deb it will be 5 months. How much longer do I have to wait for treatment as I'm in so much pain and just eatingmy painkillers to get by.

Hello, my name is Suzanne Stubbs, General Manager for the Surgical Directorate. I am sorry that you are experiencing longer than expected waiting times for your Orthopaedic Surgery. We are aware of the waiting times and since November 2014, we have been running evening and weekend theatre lists in Orthopaedics in order to reduce the waiting times, to which we are already seeing significant improvement. We are planning to continue these extra sessions into February 2015 and hope this will help you in your current situation.
