At 1pm I realised my husband could not talk coherently and was confused and could not keep his balance. I called 111 and explained. A paramedic arrived within 15 mins followed shortly by the ambulance with two paramedics. The decision was made to take him to Yeovil Hospital where the Stroke team had been alerted. On arrival he was immediately assessed, scanned and I was advised that the thrombolising treatment could be given with my consent, this was carried out immediately. After a traumatic night in the acute coronary ward, where he had intensive nursing care all night, when I telephoned early the following morning I was told that my husband's speech had returned and his memory was improving and they were no longer concerned for him. From the moment he was admitted until he came home all the staff who treated him could not have been kinder or more helpful. We are deeply grateful to everyone atYeovil Hospital-and the Paramedics who answered our call My husband continues to recover taking plenty of rest, and fortunately is returned to normal health.
