"Could not Care Attitude"

About: Central Lancashire PCT / Community nursing

(as a carer),

In September 2008, after a requests from Community Nurses, Social Services we got a visit from OT regarding ramped acces for my mother. The OT that came out said it was not needed because my mother could walk 5 yards holding on to me. In Jan requests were made again from Social Services and Community Nurses about ramped access finally an OT came out in March and said that a ramp was needed. They contacted people and came up with a plan that requires the removal of the whole of the front garden rebuilding the front wall etc. Because they say the slope is to steep. We still have not got the ramp in and when I managed to contact OT and said that I wanted it sorting got told earliest they could come out was next Friday. Social Services have been out since and are disgusted with the fact that a ramp has not been put in yet. My Mother apart from going to the hosital in an ambulance has not been out of the house since Dec 2007. And the attitude we are appear to be getting is that because she is 87 that she is old and not worth bothering about.
