I was able to make an appointment to see a glaucoma specialist on a Saturday which I initially thought was great. However, a couple of days before the appointment I received a call from the hospital to say I had to come on the Friday to have a pre-test. This was frustrating as it left me no time to a) get a lift or b) get time off work. The staff didn't seem to care, in fact the staff attitude was very poor. I therefore had to cancel the appointment on the Saturday ( which I'd been waiting several weeks for already) and agreed to rearrange so that I could get the pre-test done first. To cut a long story short and after much too-ing and fro-ing, George Elliott hopital completely cancelled my referral (without telling me) and I found out when I went to re-book my appointment. This meant I had to go back to my GP for a brand new referral ( I guess George Elliott didn't want their waiting times to be skewed) which took nearly 4 weeks, and now I am back where I started with the choose and book system. Still there is no option to book in for the pre-test, so I don't know when that would be, and therefore can't arrange a lift. This is a very poor system of operating. I feel like I don't want to bother to make another appointment. I am a health professional myself and am shocked that this is the way you treat your patients. Its now been 4 months since I went for my optician appointment where they recommended I see a specialist with some urgency. Perhaps I'll just go to A&E?!?!
