"Lack of dignity and confidentiality"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

clearly the a&e department has had a make over where the waiting room was redesigned, however I'm shocked to find the reception desk has been turned into a speaker and microphone set like a bank.

Further to this the designers and ulht have replicated the issue of no dignity respect or confidentiality so that you have to tell the receptionist your issues, details, personal information loudly for the microphone and also within 1metre radius of seating for everyone to hear.

Absolute joke

Dear ulhtpt

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback on the reception area at Lincoln A&E. Following the upgrading of the department, the new reception area with a screen and microphone was installed as a security measure for the staff on the desk and replicates the set up for the majority of A&E departments across the country. I am sorry that you feel that this makes it feel like a bank.

We are aware of the issues surrounding dignity and confidentiality and there is a sign on the reception desks inviting patients to let the receptionists know if their problem is confidential in nature so they can fill out a questionnaire giving their details. If people were unable to fill it out they could be taken to the second triage room and have someone fill it out with them

Our Estates Manager is also in contact with the microphone company to make the microphone more sensitive so patients and staff will not need to raise their voices to be heard.

The long term plan for A&E is become paperless and use electronic book in for all patients.
