"fantastic paediatric team"

About: The Great Western Hospital

On the 17/12/14 our 16 month old son Rowan was brought into Great Western via Ambulance, he was severely struggling to breathe due to suffering from Croup, within a couple of minutes of arriving, Rowan had a paediatric team working on him, immediately putting in canulas for him to receive antibiotics and fluids, when the team first arrived, I was asked to move out of the way so that the team could work on him, something I wasn't very happy with as I wanted to stay with my son as it was a very terrifying time, however, the nurse who asked me to move then stayed with me and explained to me what each person was doing to my child, she never left my side, as I result I never once had to wonder what was going on, I already knew. My son needed to be intubated to aid his breathing, I was allowed to stay with my son right up until he was put to sleep. He was then transferred later that night to Bristol Royal hospital for children, where he spent a week in intensive care. Rowan is now home and doing fantastic, I strongly believe that I have the paediatric team to thank for this as if it wasn't for the quick response and treatment that he received from them, I'm not sure we would have had a happy ending. So from the bottom.of our hearts..... Thank You X
