"Ward b6"

About: Bassetlaw Hospital

I have now been admitted to b6 three both times for the same reason. I have been dissatisfied with care on all occasions firstly the same don't take the time out to introduce themselves to you so you are never sure who is actually looking after you making it difficult to enquire about things. The nurses think it's appropriate to shout things at you from across the bay rather than discussing things quietly and face to face so the rest of the patients know all your business not really in line with dignity and respect. Secondly the staff working nights thought it was acceptable to turn the lights out for the night at 12am which for poorly patients is quiet late. They also slam doors and shout at each they all night no care or respect for the fact that ill patients require sleep. On one particular night lights were switched off at 01.30am and curtains opened again at 5am! Thirdly the whole discharge process needs an overhaul I was told I could go home at 10.30 at 15.00 When I asked if I was ok to leave I was told that my take home medication was not ready and possibly wouldn't be till 6pm as someone had arrived to take me home I decided to leave and return at 18.00 for medication. At 18.00vital medication i needed was still not ready and told they would call when it was ready which really isn't acceptable. Surely at the cost of keeping one patient in hospital especially when they no longer require hospital care surely it would be beneficial to ensure pharmacy services are up to speed. Had I not asked I am unsure as to when I may have got home. Since this experience I have decided against using Bassetlaw hospital again and will now travel to Sheffield for any future care and the birth of my child.
