"My time in Heartlands."

About: Heartlands Hospital

I was admitted to the ICU ward suffering from a heart attack, and remained in there for over four days, but have no recall of the treatment being given, only being told about it by my children. Being very close to death presented the team leader with a very difficult decision, which meant that he had to get permission from my Son to ventilate me for a number of days. Failure to do this would have almost certainly have had fatal a result, but administering it could well have lasting undesirable side effects. Very fortunately this has proved not to be the case. My Son told me of the strenuous efforts made by a number of medical staff to, well, save my life through their hard work, and persistence, Regrettably I may have responded in a hostile way at odd times, but this was due to the effects of the sedation. I am pleased to have the opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to all of that team for their strenuous efforts. Subsequently I was transferred to Ward 30, where I found all of the nursing staff to be very efficient, and caring. The food provided was of the highest order, and a good variety was offered

Marie

Thanks for taking the time to give us this feedback and pleased to hear you are recovering after such a serious illness.

I am delighted to hear about the efforts made by the ITU (and that they were successful) as well as the caring approach on ward 30. Our hospital has been very busy so it is great to hear this feedback and be able to pass it on to the staff who are working so hard at present.

Matthew
