"Undignified wating for an x-ray in Birmingham QEH"

I last week attended the hospital for a barium enema.

I was the first patient in, the radiologist was quite aloof and cold in her manner. I was asked to go into a changing room (the size of a broom cupboard) and remove my clothes, place them in the supermarket basket and return to the waiting room.

How undignified it is to sit in the waiting room with just a gown in mixed company, especially when a prison officer turns up with an oversized prisoner who has to grace us with his presence.

The radiologist did not wash her hands when preparing the hyperdermic ready for my injection despite my request. Her overall was soiled (I would mention that I was the first patient on a Monday morning). Despite repeatedly telling her that I felt unwell and sick nothing was done until I passed out, and then I had the doctor arrive together with two nurses to take my blood pressure.

I was asked if I would like a cup of coffee to which I said yes. Instead of bringing it to me it was left on a table in the waiting room and by the time I had left the x-ray room the coffee was stone cold and goodness knows how many people had breathed over it or touched it.

Is there much point putting pen to paper in connection with the above?

I am due for another x-ray on in a few days so I can look forward to the delights of sitting in the waiting room once more.
