I fractured my ankle recently (December 2014) and was admitted to A&E and then an orthopaedic ward overnight before being discharged the following day. My treatment both in A&E and on the ward was excellent. There was no significant delay in A&E and I was rapidly and competently diagnosed (I thought that I had only turned my ankle). The ward staff (ward 9( were extremely helpful overnight in what was evidently a busy and demanding ward. I was seen by the consultant the following morning and discharged later in the day. I was most impressed by the dedication and competence of all the staff involved in my care. It was a reminder of how important it is to protect the NHS at a time when services are under fire.
