"Lack of communication."

About: The Tunbridge Wells Hospital

Hi, Just spent 24 hrs in the hospital. Staff I met were all super and very pleasant. However I noted there is no joined up communication between departments, .During the time I was there I was moved a number of times between , triage nurse, ECG, X-RAY Dept. Blood samples, clinical assement, and final spent the night in ward, Several time the staff told me that they had been looking for me and had not been aware of my moves. In fact when my wife came to visit me she was told that they had discharged me some hours previously ! and she went home distressed. When I was eventualy released from the ward I was given a letter for my GP from A&E stating that I had attended A&E, but did not wait for treatment !!!! I was in fact in a ward and had seen a number of doctors including the cardiac team.! Jim Buchanan

Thank you for taking the time to provide Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust with your comments. We are very glad to hear that you found our staff "super" and "very pleasant". However, we were disappointed to hear of the concerns which you raised relating to multiple moves around the department and the lack of communication between staff during this time. We were also concerned to hear that your wife was wrongly informed that you had been discharged home and can understand the distress this would have caused. Please accept our sincere apologies for this. Please could you contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01622 224960, to discuss your concerns further. In the meantime, I have forwarded your comments on to the Matron for A&E. With kind regards. The PALS Team.
