Earlier this month, I phoned my doctor as I was feeling unwell. I was told to go straight to the surgery. My doctor decided I was to be admitted to hospital. He wanted me to go straight to A & E to be stabilised first. He was aware that there seemed to be a problem with beds. As my husband was with me we agreed that he would take me as we could be there before an ambulance. When we arrived there were already patients waiting on trolleys in the corridor. It was explained to us that there were no cubicles we had to sit on chairs in the corridor. I was triaged by a paramedic to save time. The treatment that I received in that corridor although in full view of anyone was fantastic, I was just glad that someone was able to help me to breathe. After a while we went to a cubicle. My treatment in that dept was wonderful by both nurses and doctors. They all seemed to be working so hard I was aware that I was to be admitted but had to wait for a bed to become available. Late afternoon I was taken very suddenly to a ward as a bed had become available, I was wheeled to that ward by 2 members of management who had come to A & E to help out. What pressure A & E where under that day, and yet how amazing there treatment and compassion. The next 6 days were spent on ward 30 yet again yet again brilliant care from all the staff, that ward never seems to stop 24hours a day. I am now at home under the care of the home respiratory team. I have been at home one week and have already receive two apps for outpatient clinics. Heartlands thank you.. On the morning I was due to come home I was told that a visiting hospital hairdresser would be coming to wash and blow dry my hair for me what a wonderful service.
"Brilliant care from all of the staff"
