"Consulting with the our family doesn't even figure"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health (inpatient)

(as a relative),

I think there has been a failure to treat my relative as an individual on a locked psychiatric ward. The ward's blanket policy appear to me to be for their convenience, rather than to meet the needs of the patient. More thought needs to be given to what is in the best interests of the patient. Consulting with the our family doesn't even figure. It seems to me that the primary aim seems to be about containment rather than care and treatment. Just terrible how some people with enduring mental health are treated even when they are stable....with a view that their every action must be because of their diagnosis. I feel there has been a lack of basic respect and dignity

Many Thanks

Ruth
