"Dilating Pupil"

About: Milton Keynes Hospital

I have to say I have been to this hospital a couple of times in the past year and the service in A&E has been ok but not great, however this time I was more than impressed. I was referred from my GP to the AEC unit and was expecting to spend hours waiting around. I was pleasantly surprised... The receptionist took me to the waiting room whilst she checked in someone else and then came back to get me just minutes later once she had checked the first person in. They then came around offering food & drink to patients and visitor (unusual i though but very thoughtful) One of the nurses came to get me a short while later and carried out the ECG, Bloods etc. I was advised by my GP that a dilating pupil was potentially something to do with my brain and was a little nervous to say the least! The nurses helped to almost make light of the situation and kept it professional and friendly. The consultant was amazing, he personally took me through to the CT scan and had me in and out of the scan in 20 minutes tops. He also was professional and also friendly and humorous which really helped me to feel better about the whole situation. Rather than making me wait for hours for the results he checked to make sure there was nothing major and said he would contact me later to give me 100% peace of mind. Which he did do later that day. All in all 100% satisfied and the consultant and nurses should be extremely proud of themselves for the way they work together and how they make the patients feel!
